Isn't the break so short?

Gmail and RSS feeds

I don't just love Google because I love $1 followed by 100 zeros but because it provides the best of things free of charge. When I read, on Haman's blog, how a feed reader ruined his laptop, I laughed out loud. Couple of months ago, I sent out an email, and notified all my contacts about Google's online feed reader. Google thinks we should not install any program to read our favorite feeds, and yes, Google is right. At least our laptops would not be ruined by other programs and access to the information would be a click a way, just the sign in botton from our browsers.

I love my feeds as much as I love my email. Now, thank you Google, I have all my feeds right in my email. Instead of untargetted banner ads, Google brings my favorite feed, what I really want, right on top of my inbox. (See the picture above). My feeds are now easily accessible, with just a login to my Gmail from any internet browser.

Happy New Year!

Is he safe?

When I first heard that pink is reserved for women I was supprised. Oh, don't mind me. I like pretty girls but that's not why I have them all over my blog. Idon't know why it's taking Jibola so long to send me that sexy photo I asked for. But that's not Island Event. Jibola is doing it tough in Hungary with no break and serious anatomy texts to study.

I said in my previous post that I doubt if Lagos is real good and Hamid is having fun in Lagos. I was right and wrong. Let me rephrase: I doubt if Hamid is having fun. Hamid, forgive me. But your blog justifies my thinking. Midnight with knife and mallet isn't fun I think. Let's pray for Hamid to return to Yola, even though he thinks Yola is hell. Posted by Picasa

Island Events

Guys how're you enjoying the break? Really good? 2005 is gone. Posting from Island Events. I know you admire the young woman above. But don't blame me yet. I sent an email to everyone on my list, invited them for that christmas event.

I read messages sent to AAUN's hi5.com groups and other blogs. Zunzika seems to be bored, and I wonder if she's in Abuja or Lusaka. Zunzika take a speed board into the atlantic and head for the Island. I'm sure you'll stop thinking about school. Hamid is having a real good time in Lagos. But I doubt if Lagos is real good, especially this christmas period. Mustapha I like your blog. Ehis well done for making it real good.

My friends! Trisha, Bisola, Japari and Rose, where're you? I wish you were here. Serious. Rose is bored in KD. She said to me (on phone) "I really want to go back to school." Well, I don't care. LOL. C'mon, woman. Let's forget school for now. Remember, this is the time to sleep well and do no assignments. Good good.

INF-201

Posted by Picasa
INF-201 Class: From left, my self, Trisha (a real star), Shola, Nino, Nimmy, Haman, Hamid, and Nousheen.
The course is a real teaser. Principles of Information Systems. After taking this course, I'm begining to know organization structures and cultures and the role information systems play in organizations.

Most of the time, I think of designing systems for orginizations. Besides, our professor left us with a project, which is to continue during the second semester. This project involves developing a Healthcare Information Systems for a Yola based clinic called MATCO. MATCO is a real small clinic with three doctors, 36 employees, and 7 departments. To be candid, I'm not really interested with hospital stuff, doctors, health and all. Anyway, I'll try and grasp the fun in this project. It's IS and I love IS. Guys, see you all next semester.

Now I know

I’m thankful to all my professors. You really kept me busy during the semester with assignments, papers, quizzes, readings, critical thinking exercises, and presentations. There was no weekend for me and I thought that was extreme. When AAUN subscribed to online libraries and provided us our access codes, I thought it was a trick to hide us in books round the clock. Yes and I still think, but I’m grateful. Now I know that learning is a process. For the first time I’m writing exams and don’t have to prepare for exams. This is because I did my readings, assignments, and all. I’m pleased because I’ve learnt. Now I know that it’s wrong to prepare for exams, as I used to do. I feel I can write all the six courses in a day because I know what to write. I’m ready for the spring semester.

The 14th Week

Sure I use Ubuntu and Fedora distros. I'm proud of that. The marketing guys stay off the developers. I don't wait for monthly patches and don't care about the security bulletin.

This is week 14 and it began with a unexpected class quiz, thus we should expect supprises for the rest of the week. Not a rule of thumb though.

American University of Nigeria

Ladies and Gentlemen: welcome to American University of Nigeria. Fasten your seat-belts, keep upright and prepare for a smooth descend. Don’t panic because we are free from lightening.

AAUN is very cosmopolitan. You’ll find in AAUN outstanding people from every corner of the globe living in harmony within a common framework of seeking and promoting knowledge. A free association of some exceptional Africans, Americans, Asians and Europeans form a vibrant community, ready to share knowledge and expertise with one another. Are we down already?
Hours of flight are very tiring. Deep your hands in your pockets, take out that candy and fresh up as I share my experience. At AAUN, I’ll be made a better person. My mind will be made broader than ever. I’m taking highly selective and carefully screened courses from the arts, science, technology, and business that form an all-round education. At the end of it, I’ll be geared up toward rational thinking and make sane decisions to solve some of the most fundamental problems of mankind.

The most intriguing is having professors working with me on every subject within the horizon. My professors are just a click away. From the comfort of my dormitory bed, equipped with high speed wireless internet and armed with a laptop, I can talk with my professors and seek for help on every issue. They are ever ready to help me out. Glory is to Google who is making this possible with its GoogleTalk service. AAUN is truly America hence it’s very democratic, liberal and ideal. Everyone is free to voice out his mind in a cultured method. No opinion is inferior.

I could go on and on telling you about AAUN but even that would not give
you an exhaustive idea. Wait a minute. I have to do my homework to
keep things in order. Check back.
